Service Line Maintenance Option


GSWSA offers to service and maintain customer's water and/or sewer service lines. This service covers water and/or sewer lines extending from the existing utility system (within road right-of-way) up to the exterior perimeter of the building being served. The maintenance and repair of the lines within the perimeter of the building served remains the responsibility of the customer. Irrigation piping and fixtures, lines to out-buildings, pools and faucets other than in the primary building served are not served under this program.

If there is damage to the customer's property due to the customer's water and/or sewer service line, including a sewer back-up in service lines beyond the perimeter of the customer’s building, the customer will be reimbursed for reasonable costs directly resulting from customer's actual damages. The amount of reimbursement shall be determined by a qualified independent adjuster, selected by GSWSA, prior to any repairs being made. GSWSA shall not be liable, under any circumstances, for any damages caused by customer's negligence or that of any of the customer's family members or guests. This disclaimer includes all damages including special, incidental, consequential, or indirect damages that may be incurred by the customer. GSWSA’s sole liability is limited to the reimbursement of the actual costs for the repair or replacement of the damaged property.

GSWSA also assumes responsibility for the repair and/or restoration of sidewalks, driveways, shrubbery or other landscaping features that may be damaged in the course of making necessary repairs. GSWSA reserves the right to cut or remove vegetation whose root system directly impacts the proper functioning of the water and/or sewer line system.

Monthly charges for service line maintenance are as follows:

Water and Sewer Accounts:
First REU: $2.85
Each additional REU: $0.60
Water Only Accounts:
First REU: $2.60
Each additional REU: $0.55
Sewer Only Accounts:
First REU: $2.60
Each additional REU: $0.55

To be a participant in this Service Line Maintenance Program, contact the Customer Service Department at 843-443-8202. The additional monthly charge for the program will be added to the customer's monthly account. If this charge is not on a customer's monthly bill, this means the customer is not a participant in the program.

Customer's failure to pay the fees described herein shall relieve GSWSA from any obligation of service. GSWSA reserves the right to discontinue this program at any time with thirty (30) days prior notice to the customer. GSWSA may adjust the cost for the service after providing the customer sufficient notification. Customers may discontinue participation at any time, with thirty (30) days notice to GSWSA.
